does anyone know if there is a full GT3 conversion kit available for the 996? So you could convert the headlights to 997 with the gt3 bodykit. Also would the donor 996 need to be a wider TT or C4S or would the kits fit any 996?

Here are some rough photshop mockups of what I'd like to achieve. The first image is the standard car, second is with just a gt3 kit and techart wheels and the third is with the light conversion.

What do you guys think, personally I think with the light conversionit looks great.

Damn you're pretty good with photoshop. It seems they sell a 997 GT3 bumper to either fit the 996 headlamps or they sell one that fits the 997 (conversion). It looks like you would have to do something custom if you wanted the GT3 peice between the hood and bumper unless they sell it like that.

The 997 conversion would be bumper, headlights, and fenders.

Or you can just get the front bumper that fits the 996.

I guess it depends if you just like the look of the 997 GT3 bumper or you want to convert your car to look like a 997. If you want to go the full distance you would need to convert the rear and get the new GT3 wing, that would be expensive to do all that.

I think either of the pics I posted on the last page look good compared to the base 99-01 carrrera. I like the aero kit too, guess it just depends on what you like. If I had a 99 carrera, I'd probably just go with the 997 GT3 bumper that is made to fit the 996.

Right I think I have found the combination I like. I am thinking to take a 996 fit a gt3 front bumper, rear bumper, skirts and gt3 rear wing. Then keep the standard 996 lights with clear lenses and possibly add some 19" 997 turbo wheels but have them painted dark grey.

I have done a bit more photo chopping as I can't work out what colour I'd have the car if I was to respray it at the same time. I quite like a dark grey or a blue/purple colour like porsche zenith blue. Then again something loud like rs green colour looks quiet striking. Which do you guys think?

That GT3 vent on the top of the bumper won't match the curve of your 996 hood. You will have to replace the hood to make it match.
Great!

Really? Vivid racing sell the front bumper as a direct replacement so will it need a new bonnet?

With that kit, you don't need to change the bonnet.... but take a look at the top vent. Doesn't follow the curvature of the top line. The 997 has a different curve... it's small but it bothered me when I wanted to install just the vent using my 996 bonnet as a reference.

Pretty sweet, for some reason I like it in Red. Please update if you go through with this. I like the idea and look of this. Haven't seen many people doing this yet.

Just trying to work out if the a C2 will look too narrow with the kit on. Ideally I'd use a C4s or a turbo but cost is obviously a concern.

Does anyone know if its possible to get the rear arches flared slightly to c4s width?

Also forgot to mention that I added a set of 997 Evocation mirrors by Jaquemond to those cars i photoshopped as I do really like the 997 mirrors

Yeah they offer wider fender flares, search around I had a thread about them. In my opinion they are a little too over the top, not really natural looking, but they do make the fenders damn wide. You would be surprised, the regular carrera isn't much narrower. I think this kit would look fine on just a carrera. I really like the look of that bumper on the 996.

I have seen some of the wider fenders offered by companies such as Jaquemond but they do seem oversized. I'd quiet like to widen the car to the same width as the turbo but I am guessing the rear fenders/panels won't fit directly from a turbo/C4s to a C2?

Also is the turbo/C4S any wider at the front or just the rear?

Yeah I agree, I am swinging more and more to Silver but maybe add a few touches of black/dark grey to the car to break up the silver like the GT3 RS with its black mirrors and maybe a dark stripe down the side (without the gt3 RS writting of course) or bonnet
