My recommendation is save your money. I cant picture it looking to good and it will be slower. Sell the 996 and buy a 997 if you please.

100% agreed !!
Many 996 owners here ask me about the 997 conversion & I told them to be proud of what they have.
I had a original factory 930S slang nose which I owned for 5 years. I made a big mistake by adding 993 body kit, upgrade engine to 470BHP, covert complete 993 rear suspension.
I sold the car shortly after the conversion at a big loss coz I felt very silly doing the conversion !!!
I could have sold it at a much higher price if I have kept it stock.
Here are some pic.

Do a search on Misha.... or go to his website. misha911.com His is what you want. I think he posted about how he did it and how expensive it ended up. Looks nice now though!

Damn, that misha car looks sweet, nice and unique mod. I'm sure it's quite a nice sum of money. I'd personally just try to buy a 997 as you get typically less miles, newer car, and a few more things over a 996. Plus I haven't heard many issues with the 997. However a 997 will run you $50K+.

Although I will agree, that's a pretty cool mod. I wouldn't mind doing it, I love the front end I have though.

Problem is, it will still look like a modded 996 to anybody who knows anything about Porshe. Take the money and put it towards a real 997.

I personally think I will keep mine until the end of time or wait a couple years and get a 997 C4S. They are out of my price range now, I'll see when they come down if it would be worth while.

I personally like things such as swaps. I think it's cool to put on a body part/engine that didn't "belong." Guy above is right, for those with a 997, they will think, hmm those rear fenders are a little small, and obviously the rear tail lights and bumper are different.

One of the coolest cars I've seen was a Cayman with a 3.8l 997S engine in it.

Can never fault a guy for putting more juice under the hood. I am still contemplating a SC for my car. The problem I see with the 997 conversion is the cost of trying to look like a later model car. I prefer body mods that make my our cars unique and individual without trying to clone or replicate another model. This is a careful balancing act.

Well the current market price of a 996 vs. 997 is still far apart. But in year or two, 996 price should stable a little bit where 997 depreciating still going on.

If you plan to hold a car for 3 to 5 years, I can see the cost of conversion justified. Again, it's to your personal taste and choice. Do what make you happy and enjoy driving your Porsche. There will be always two camps on conversion or anything else that's matter. Don't get lost on the debate. You can't make everyone happy. It's you and your decision that counted.

I don't see the OEM parts that much far apart. I would do it right with OEM. You can purchase these parts with salvage yard. Fenders, lining, front hood, headlights, front bumper, front bumper support/guard, door handles, side view mirrors.

^ Yeah I would recommend OEM as well, that was just the cheapest I could find on ebay. Aftermarket fiberglass....mmmm, not a fan of it.
