Red face 3.6 996 to 3.4 cayman s, am I stupid?

Hey guys

I have a 02 996 3.6 Carrera2 tiptronic with IPD plenum, k&n intake, and catback exhaust. I got a friend who is selling his 06 cayman s fully loaded but tiptronic too. Every time I drive my car. I feel why I bought a tip. I should have bought a stick instead. Anyway, I drove his car once and I think the cayman s's tiptronic is more responsive than my 02 996 also cayman s feels more solid and rigid and of course newer interior. Do you guys think it's stupid for me to get a tiptronic cayman s from already owning a tip 996 3.6? I live in Taiwan so it's very difficult for me to find a stick shift or it's almost impossible. Traffic here is extremely horrible and the roads are much narrower compare with states. Also I know Porsche will come up with a new dual clutch tranny next year. What do you guys think?

I will post pictures of my 996 C2.

For me that's no contest, i'd stick with the 996. you've already taken the largest hit of decpreciation likely with the 996, and the Cayman's likely to plummet. Besides, i think your fascination might be the "other guys girlfriend" issue, wherein you see what you think are the good points of someone else's lady without knowing the bad points from daily interaction. just my two cents ...

Your C2 is Gemballin'. I'd stick with that. And if you DO decide to let it go, you better part out those upgrades.

thank you guys for all the inputs. yeah nothing can replace the 911 unless it's a new 997. Which I can't afford currently. If I really want I will take a huge lost on my 996 for that cayman s. I am talking about HUGE! I may be complain' after owning a cayman s and wish damn I have that 911 ( 996 or 997 ) When I reach my rear seats there's nothing. LOL I am sure it's a better handling car with more modern options and way much nicer interior. I guess I will hold on to my 996 for a while and enjoy more of it before I change to another p car. Mean while It's time to get new suspension PSS10 or KWV3. Also I feel like upgrading the brakes. We're talking about 6k at least for those. It's better than loosing lots of money by getting rid of the 996 anyway.

Actually, I am just worry about the reliability of my 02 996. It's my daily driver. Things such as rattle inside the interior, Things starting to worn out or break. Those things kinda **** me off once in a while. Brakes are starts to fade, suspension needs to be replaced, etc. Did I say it's a 6 year old car? Oh well, I will see what's up. I am just concern more $ will need to be spend if I keep my 996 just due to maintenance and repairs. By the time I wanna sell. I'd be a retard and spend so much just to keep it alive!

only get the cayman if they'll swap your 996's 3.6L engine into it. i used to own an '03 boxster S. it was a sweet handling car, but i always felt it needed more power. i drove an '07 cayman S and had the same feeling. i toyed with the idea of an engine swap for the boxster S until i drove a C4S. then i bought the C4S.
