Extended warranty for '99 C2

Hello everyone - first post and not a P-car owner yet, but trying hard. Does anyone know of a good aftermarket warranty for a MY '99. The only one I can find limits liability to $3000 per claim re engine and water pump. $3k is a drop in the bucket considering IMS consequences. My discussion with a warranty broker and my internet searches indicate no company will provide a comprehensive warranty for a car of that age. Thanks for any help.

It does'nt hurt to shop around but chances are dim. I got an extended warranty in '03 on a 99 C2. If you cant get one, then maybe look for a newer model,I'm sure you will get one.

i got a quote from carchex for $4499 to cover my 01 C4 with 61k miles. coverage is for 3 years or until car hits 100k miles. the coverage is inclusionary and has a $100 deductible. don't know how they are from a BBB point of view, but there's a price for comparison.

First post as well. Just bought a 99 C4 with 66k miles, and have been shopping around for warranties. I too got a quote from Carchex/Smart Auto Warranty, for the IAP elite plan, which was 3/36k for $4150. Carchex offered me the comprehensive plan from IAP, with less coverage, for $3250. AAAutowarranty offered me the "Tech Choice Deluxe" warranty for $2773, which offered similar coverage to the comprehensive plan from IAP. They also have IAP's plans at about the same price as Carchex.

Steer clear of the hard sell that Continental warranty tries to hit you with....they'll offer you a deal that you must take over the phone immediately, or they claim they'll put you on a list and never allow you to purchase again; they won't show you the contract prior to purchase, but they do give a 30 day cancellation (and no waiting period). I've heard cancellation is a nightmare, as far as getting refunded.

I still haven't decided what do to on mine....leaning toward skipping the warranty entirely.

There is definitely coverage out there...just need to shop around a bit.

Well I have been looking for ext warranty on my 99 since I bought it a year ago with 21k miles. I have yet to find a reputable 3rd party warranty company that I won't have a battle or worse, a "war" with on every claim I would have. I went through this same crap with ext warranty on PWC and I swore I would never do it again.
So if anyone thinks that they have a ext warranty company that is good and pays the claims, without you having to go ballistic on them...please list them here. I will be more than happy to do the exercise again

The cost all depends on how many miles your Pcar has and how many miles you expect to drive. Ofcourse the more miles it's going to cost more.

When I got my 99 C2 back in 03, I was able to get the 100K 7-year warranty for free. Back then. it had a mileage of 42k. Ever since I was able to use ithe warranty once and no hustle. I got the warranty from ACA Finance in Dublin, Ca., the same place that sold the car. I have added only 5k ever since on the mileage...It will just take a little searching to find one but it may be pricy.

I got my '99 in May 2007 with 44K miles and 3 year/36K miles Preferred extended warranty from CNA National for $2333 with $100 deductible. Real cost is $ 3233 but I got a $900 discount as a dealership employee. Amazing coverage, I had RMS and oil separator replaced and a few "other minor" things totalling about $5000 and they never questioned anything.

You Have Options

If you can give me the year and model with milage I may be able to assist you. I would suggest you only consider a exclusionary contract. One that states what is not covered. Many "bumper to bumper" extended warranties exclude seals and gaskets and the RMS is one thing you want covered. Also beware of reimbursement contracts and ones that do not pay stated labor rates. There are so many pitfalls. My 2 cents.

bigcarguy - thanks for the assist - the car is a '99 C2 coupe with 71,200 miles. I could live with a 2-year, 24k mi warranty.

the milage on the car may prevent you from getting a exclusionary contract with some providers I will check and post to tomorrow

Definitely only an exclusionary contract with seals and gaskets covered.

I bought my 99' with 59995 miles it on may of 2007 as well. I got a 4yr/100,000 for about $4500. I got it from Rector motors in burlingame. So far I've done a RMS, starter, altenator, and some other minor repairs and I haven't had any problems with it at all. Oh and my car has a couple of mods as well.....

As I am starting to receive quotes in response to inquiries, I'm noticing that many companies will not cover either a car as old as a '99, or in particular a P-car as old as '99. Also, some companies deal only through a dealership. None of the companies I have contacted so far offer an exclusionary contract or cover gaskets or seals, unless they are damaged as result of covered parts failure. It seems that MY2000 is a cutoff for many companies.
