Dead battery
Dead battery
The battery in my Porsche is completely dead. I went to pull the lever to open the front hood where the battery is located. Unfortunately It seems to be locked and therefore I can't open the hood to charge the battery. I'm guessing It has something to do with alarm??. How the hell can I charge the battery if the release lever is locked and I can't get the hood opened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'm a little frustrated now.
You can either hook a charger into the plug in the fuse panel so you have power, or the emergency release cable is located in the passenger wheel well. That's a royal pain to get to so I'd use the fuse panel plug if you can.
You can jump the car from inside the engine bay, check your manual.
Also hard to explain but a little slide covers the inside of the hatch so u cant open it. something long and skinny (knife) can be used to look in between the two levers and slid over to the right with the knife. its silver. Good luck

check with the search engine feature for similar problems and good answers. I remember reading a thread about opening the front with a blade. agreed that the emergency cable in the wheel well is a pain...

Yes, that was my experience. the car sat for awhile before I got it, and I think had a battery replaced or charged as the car was not being driven. I had it about a week or so, ran great, and then was laid up post-surgery. About two weeks after that I took it out on a good run. the very next day the alternator failed. A new alternator was put in and a new Interstate battery. knock on wood, the car runs great now. Best, jl
