Sport cats or Cat bypass pipes?

Looking for input on which of these two options will best suit my needs.

Want a amplified exhaust note, not too concerned with hp or tq gains.

A while back I got to listen to a 996 with Fabspeed, either bypass or sport cats, and it had a nice tone, even poped a little at higher RPM's, no drone under 3K, sounded a tad more agressive than stock in the low range.

At the time, wasn't considering this route so didn't get any details on what it actually was.

Thanks, Guys

If you don't mind not passing smog and having the cell light on then I'd say get the cat by-pass. Sounds amazing with good exhausts. See them all the time at PCA DE

How aggressive sound do you want? Cat by-pass is much more louder than sport cat. Like c2mojo stated, CEL and smog test. In Cali, smog test is every other year so when the time come just reinstall the OEM cats.

My 997 PSE exhaust hacked installed on my 996 is pretty aggressive enough for me.

is there any 02 simulator or other option that one can run CAT bypass and not have CEL light on all the time?
i don't have smog inspection in state but don't want to run with CEL on constantly- any options?
I read that FVD could add option to their modified ECU which would work. Anyone have this option? FVD response back to me didn't answer my question.
I was able to get 02 simulator for my MINI S which eliminated the cel when i had no cats. Can't find this for Porsche.
Any options besides buying 200 cel cats?

I have both...bypass first and i like them especially in low rpm...but more i drove the car find them too loud...they are nice start for exhaust upgrade at resonable price.I just recently switch to Full fabspeed exhaust wit 200 cel cats and no check engine light....The sound super (alot of deep tone) little pricey but well done.

I completely forgot I started this thread, a looong time ago.

What's with "Ale"? You just trying to get your post count up buddy?

All these useless posts that make absolutly so sense, It would take a genius to decipher his code.

Zookie, that is the funniest thing i've read today I bet it makes complete sense to Ale.

Pipes

I looked at the Fabspeed pipes and other muffle systems also. The by-pass pipes are going to be very loud. No sneaking in at night. The rest of the changes are basically just sound improvements. HP is not really going to be effected. So do you want to pay wads for a sound system? Check out what is know as a gundo or PSE hack. This can be done at a local muffler shop for about $250. The car gets a nice aggressive sound to it on throttle and yet when just driving down the street you can still listen to your radio or talk to a passenger. I did this to my 99 996. Have not regretted it.

Find a set of used Fabspeed cans and you will be very happy. I bought a super clean set a few months back for $550 shipped which is about 1/2 the price of the new ones. I wish they were a little louder, but still very quiet on the freeway when cruising which is good. No drone in my opinion.

The last two are not happy with the cat bypass because the benefits are not increased and even the sound and 'become more racing.
