Carbon fiber airbox?

2 things....

1. Where can I get a C/F airbox?

2. Being Carbon Fiber (or covered/coated in c/f) and more resistant to heat, will it keep the box colder?

closest thing available is the GruppeM carbon kevlar filtercharger intake...I'm picking one up on Sat. if you'd like to see one in person.

I believe this is what you are interested in:

In my opinion a huge waste of money at almost $2000 and no power gain, in fact you might lose power with this style of intake. I guess its good for the show circuit, however, save the money for a suspension or go with an EVO intake.

I would not put one of those in my car if you payed me...
Xico put on in his and it was not a closed system (debris was able to get around the filter) and it chewed up both of his turbos....

why would you want a CF airbox. performance would be insignificant. rather buy a wing with ram induction scoops and route it to your air box.

I think its more show than go, however, the Ferrari piece looks very appealing through the glass

I know 4 Ferrari owners that have gotten rid of their Tubi "airboxes" (which aren't even true airboxes, just covers) in order to replace them with GruppeM pieces.

I've been using GruppeM products since 02' (back in my BMW E46 M3 days) with no problems. All of their manufacturing and quality is top notch - (they also happen to be the official distributor for K&N Japan) I use their exhaust on my current 996 and will have their revised intake for the 3.6L as soon as it's available.

Perhaps your buddy should re-evaluate his installation skills. We've installed 3 of these systems on 996TT's with no issues...the oldest install has been driving with it for over a year.

You can always go for the BMC carbon airbox thing - cheaper at $350 or so....

I would spend the $$ on sport cats and ECU before an airbox.
Your engine can only use so much air in stock confirguration.
With the ECU, 100 cell cats, headers and a BMC airbox or just the filter you can get 25hp at the flywheel. Carbon looks good but not worth the $$, on some TT's the carbon has come apart and like already posted ruined the turbos.

Interesting, I'm assuming this is for another brand of intake, carbon kevlar doesn't usually "come apart" as you have stated.
