Poll third brake or not on RUF fixed wing

Help... opinions needed my RUF foil showed up and think I going to try preping and painting myself and do the sides and front later if it turns out good. Just not sure weather to plug up the third brake light and paint over it or install if possible the one that's used when stock foil when raised or add a plug from porsche not sure of the PN# number that says "porsche" someone told me about? Pics below of with and without third brake light. PS my car is Regular Black

Does the stock third brake light get blocked or deleted by the foil? If so, I'd probably put the RUF light in. If not, plug it and paint over.

I do not really know but looks blocked. I suppose I would have 2 third brake lights so to speak if one was not plugged. Good point.

From the new pic, I'd fill it and paint over, unless there is some legal requirement for a third light. I'd probably disconnect the stock third light too if it is blocked and not deleted.

Third Brake Light

Me, I'd leave it in and hooked up. Anything to help the 87 year old grandpa or speeding teen girl to see you slowing cant be a bad thing. Might be a small sacrifice on looks but might save you from the driver who drives while talking on the cell phone, drinking a latte, and changing CD's at the same time to see you slowing. Just my 2 cents.

I say install light on the RUF deck, and get a smoked one from somewhere like www.maxspeed-motorsports.com. Does the decklid raise / lower like the stock deck? If so, block off the one that is normally hidden.

The RUF is fixed and is large, and imagine if it did raise it would act more like a air brake then foil. Thanks for link.

Is there a smoke paint or film that you would use?

My Ruf wing (installed by Ruf) has the light - it looks good. And, you should check your state regulations for 3rd brake lights, as you may violate them and your car may fail its next inspection or you may be ticketed for not having one.

If I recall correctly that it was federally mandated that all cars have the third brake light, but then again owning a car that does 175 mph and not breaking the law every once in awhile is'nt much fun. PS.. Please feel free to drop some pics of your car with wing here love to see em'.

IIRC, federal regulations for 3rd lights on new cars only apply to auto manufacturers, not end users. The actual operation of a motor vehicle by a user and related inspections are governed by state law. But, not certain on that.

Wing pics are here: http://td873.enteronline.net/car1/PorschePage.html
