Cabs v. Coupes
Cabs v. Coupes
I'm curious as to the ratio of Cabs sold compared to coupes. It looks like a lot more cabs are available on eBay and Craig's List than coupes.
Also the percentage of Tip cars.
This info is probably available but I couldn't find it after a cursory search.

personally i like the coupe better.... just seems more practical... and when doing body kit mods, the coupe has more flexibility....... but on that perfect day, when the weather is gorgeous, THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE for a CAB...... absolutely PRICELESS......... that's why i am keeping the cab and sc'ing it rather then getting a coupe...... although a tt cab is ideal.......
After driving Corvette convertibles for the last 15 years, when it came time to get a 911 I opted for the coupe. The coupe simply has better lines and offers a nice, tight ride. Its more secure, and outward visibility is also very good in the coupe.
A coupe has a sun roof, but how much is a top to replace on a cab?
However, if I lived in a state like CA, I would sacrafice looks for the cab.

I live in California and I see about 7 out 10 Porsches are cabs.
That is why I posted the original query. I was curious if cabs out number coupes elsewhere.
Also, do you guys/gals 'back east' drive your cars during the winter or do you have a complete set of winter and summer tires (and wheels), or what?

Without meaning to be being rude, sexist, or politically incorrect, I see far more females driving convertables then men. And with coupes the exact opposite more men. As for transmission choices I see far more tips than 6 speeds. Perhaps those who commute prefer to enjoy the ride and not build the left calf muscles.

I have had both cabs and coupes and I will always take the cab over the coupe. My next one will be a turbo cab. I must have the open air and the top down. I thinks the 996/7 and even the old 80's cabs are the best looking cabs on the road compared to other convertibles. In fact the only reason I bought my current Porsche is because it was Black and a Cab. If I was driving on the track more I would want a GT3 or a coupe but I only drive on the track 1-2 times per year.

Realistically though a Cab sucks in So Cal unless you live at the Beach. There are very few days where a cab is even practical in So Cal in the summer, winter is doable - some of the time anyway!
