She's back...with a new engine!
Well, the 996 is back in the garage with her new engine. So far so good...of course I am going to baby it for 500 miles, get the oil changed and then test that 2 year warrenty. The engine is just clean...it, and should, look like a showroom bay. I'm pretty happy so far but of course the proof will be in the pudding over time.
I leave tomorrow for New Orleans and New York and during that time the GT3 bumper goes on. I'm really looking forward to that.
My buddy who now lives in Portland has me babysitting his 03 Audi TT. Just babying the car home for 20 miles I realized how much I missed driving a Porsche and that while the engine repair was a tough pill to swallow at first these cars really are amazing. SOOOO glad to have her back!

Unless you paid about 17K for it, its a Reman....but remember, most Reman engines NEVER left the factory, they were engines that did not pass the initial QC test...they were pulled apart, NEW internals put in, then testes to even tighter tolerances than new engines. So to pass the Reman has to be as good or better than a new engine.....Its a good thing...enjoy...
Since I'm not familiar with your specific situation why was the engine replaced? As a new 996 owner I'd like to know what to watch out for or precautions I cant take to avoid a potential ***** slap to my bank account.
If you have a 996 there's a pretty good chance it will part you from some cash at some point in time...but man they are fun...
MCM97, I think I got the same deal, 2 year warranty, was like $13.4K out the door. My wait was nearly 2 months.
I'm disappointed you didn't go with a project lol. I think if this one goes I'm sending it to a place in Texas who will bore it out, sleeve it, and rebuild it with all forged or titanium parts. If I remember right they run about $3-4K. Don't know what the final cost would be to rebuild it all and ship it etc.
