I have a friend with a 99 c2. He would like me to install a kn air intake on it. I dont know of the types of options on a 996. I would like some help on identifying different oem air intakes. Were you able to get different air intakes as options? Was there a performance option? I see he has ground effects and a spoiler which he says was factory installed per seller. The car sounds louder than mine. I cant see him doing this change if a oem performance option will out perform the kn. Any pics would help me help him.

Thank you
Jim

i agree with the post above. the title of the thread may not bring in the volume of peekers that you are hoping for.

if you do a thread search on K&N, it will pull up threads about the cold air intake. in these threads, you'll see where other members suggest other brands, their personal opinions, etc.

he may have a sport exhaust or a muffler bypass. i have both a K&N cold air intake and a fabspeed muffler bypass on our 99 996. we've been happy with both.

good luck

Thank god some help. What he trying to figure out is was there an optional intake (like 997) available oem. If so any pics would help identify it. As for the cans they look like oem cans but I forgot to look for a Hack. When the 996 came from the factory with the ground effects and spoiler did it mandate a power option?????

sorry that i can't help you with the 997 question. you could call up a porsche dealership service department and they can tell you if there are other OEM intake options. i personally haven't heard of any, but i'm not really a tool/wrench kind of girlie.

i just stick to pink calipers and fuzzy teddy bears on my seats. that's about where my knowledge ends! =)

sorry i can't be more help.

i'm sure some of the other members here will have some info

Thank you for the help. I was implying that the 997 have the option. I am not sure if 996 had an option. Someone on the 996 forum must have an idea what options were available on a 996

The 996 did not have a seperate intake option. There is only one intake for a stock or powerkit for the 996.

The K&N intake you're refering to is an aftermarket item....

My 1999 Pcar came with the GT3 front, side skirts and rear wing from Porsche when it was ordered. No mods were done to the intake.
