Long time BMW owner looking to switch to Porsche. I know about the RMS issue. Is there anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks!

get an 03-04 if you can... 02 was a complete re-design and because of that was essentially a "new" model...
also if you buy a used one ask if it has had the RMS fixed... if the answer is yes... you will probably be fixing it again and again... general rule of thumb is if it has 40K miles and no RMS it will probably never happen...
other than that have the ECU scanned for type 1 and type 2 overevs at the dealership... avoid engines with type 2 over revs...

we have a 2000 and knock on wood no problems at all with 46k on the clock....only problem i ever recall having was the coolant leak which was handled...solid car without a doubt....its hard for me to believe its 8 years old already!
20k miles and the only items that needed fixing: 1. oil pressure sending unit, 2. window adjustment. cars are super reliable, maintenance is key. get a car with records. do a ppi. tires costs are going to shock you.
i bought the car with 35k miles on the clock and i think the PO had a coolant leak or something minor repaired once.

2003 996 c2 and I use it to daily drive when it is sunny. I live in seattle so there this means 3-4 times a week from May - September and maybe 2x a week the rest of the year.
I do drive it to eastern washington in the summer when it is 95-100+ and it is an all black car and never a heat issue, always starts, and is easy to drive.
The only issue is door dings.

My '02 C4 Cab had RMS @ 12k. Now at 17k and no problem. It's a summer driver only and is every bit as good as the '06 Cayman S I had. Fun to drive and a real looker with triple black!
If you can, get a quality PPO and a CPO warranty from Porsche. Buy a Porsche and you'll never go back!
