Never a used Porsche just a new driver!

I just read the thread about a guy worried about putting miles on his Porsche. I have had my 1999 C4 since new. I use the car everyday that also includes the harsh Boston winters it goes through. I have 87,000 miles on it and with no major promblems on it other than the normal repairs. You have to realize that Porsche built these cars to be driven and thats what you should do. Having your car sitting in the garage, not only are you saving it for the next owner but you are creating damage to it. Now for the people who say the car is to small for my wife and kids, you have the wrong car, buy a wagon. A Porsche is a selfish mans car thats why it is a two door coupe. So find a understanding wife or stay single. Just drive your car and enjoy!!!

Agreed...Most cars do not run as well if they are overly pampered. If you properly maintain the car and then drive it and enjoy it, you generally get more life out of it. A buddy and I bought Range Rover's about the same time, I drove the hell out of mine, many road trips, ski trips, lots of miles, he would rent a car to take a trip and drove it occasionally. He had all kinds of problems from suspension, brakes, driveshaft, electrical you name it, he had it, me, I had a trouble free ownership and sold it with 150K miles on the clock. He sold his a year earlier with 68K miles on it and spent 3 times I did on repairs.

Same here too. Mine is an evereday car and I love it. I use to be one of those that save the miles but you know what, the next owner is the one that enjoys. For now on I just ride.

also, how can you even know how to drive a particular car unless you put miles on it ... get experience ... pushing the car and learning the limits. What's the point of buying a performance car unless you use the performance.

Yep, actually, my wife hates riding in the Porsche( If I went her way, I'd be driving a Mercedez). As long as we take the Toyota when we go out together. I can keep buying whatever car I want.

Thank god I come to work alone most of the time.

Peter

I hear you Peter, my GF use to drive a Ferrari, then a 911 then a boxter and hated them all. So when we go out we never take the P cause she hates it so I enjoy the P by myself so I get to push the car to its limits. She's only been on the P once, when I got it. YES!!!!!

Cool OK, I'll bite....

If your GF hates the Ferrari, the 911 and Boxster .... just what does she drive?

Why did she hate the above three?

If you want your wife or girlfriend to really hate your Porsche get the GT3 seats. Trust me she will never want to sit in or drive the car again.

She drives the H2, she loves it, her dream car and I am not talking about price, she just love it because she parks anywhere she leaves all kind of stuff on the truck. She feels like no-one is going to touch her unsless is an 18 wheeler.

SHe hated the Ferrari cause it was a cab (manual roof) and it was at the shop most of the time, the 911 cause it wasn't automatic, and the Boxter cause she tried to pull a fast 180 and she messed up and ****ed up the suspension.

Now, she has a very slow truck but lots of power and security.
