I would say yes, but that's my opinion.
You lose some lower end torque, so the main reason to get it is if you're going to use it a lot on the track and you can keep in the high RPMs.

If you're supercharging, I'd definitely forget it.

 

I didn't see any low end torque loss on the DYNO for the X51, did you?

 

Yes. I remember seeing that and discussing it. The torque curve started later. I may be wrong, but I that's what I remember.

I am putting the supercharger on my 03 C4S, a lot more horsepower and torque for about the same money as the X51 package. I have seen in person the TPC kit, Mike was still working on the program for the additional computer that the system uses. I just wish Mike would hurry up and get the thing done. I need more power NOW! Also I have been told it will not work with the X51 option

Yeah, no kidding. I've been hearing "next season" for SEVERAL and "thirty days" for the last several months.

Yep, this is a make or break thing for me as to what my next car will be. If no SC, then eithe the TT cab (doubtful owing to weight) or 360 spider which I'm not thrilled about.

they told me just the opposite last week and said they were (or had) actually put it in an X51 - though they told me the X51 was a waste of money.

 

By Design has had a supercharger available for 996s for many months.

 

Yeah, they've had one available for a couple months. Not only is it twice the cost, but the R&D is weak. Conversely, TPC has been working on theirs INSTALLED in a car for well over a year (not to mention making them for the Boxster for years!). TPC is like #2 racing right now and I'm much more confident their product won't grenade than I am re: By Design's:

REALLY? What did the birdie say with regards to power, price, availability, etc?

 

I'll bet the price is so HI you would need to get a loan on the car to pay for it.
