Best overall settings for PSS10s
Best overall settings for PSS10s
I just got some PSS10s installed on my 996 C2. So far I am very impressed with the overall ride and improvement in handling. My installer initially set the shocks on the soft side with the fronts at 1 and the rears at 4. I am getting ready to start experimenting with the settings and would appreciate hearing recommendations and setup advise. I use the car as a daily driver (weather permitting) and frequently drive it hard on winding back roads.
Thanks
Thanks
When I got mine back from the installer, they had it at 5/5. He suggested 7/9 or 8/10 for track and auto-X. I did one auto-x at 8/10 and liked how it felt. I may have taken the front up to 9 if I had more runs. I also didn't get to compare how the settings do with the PSM off.
I dialed it down to 1/1 for a road trip and have not changed it back yet.

IMHO you're not going to see a lot of noticeable adjustment between 1 or 2 clicks on Bilsteins, if you change by 4-5 clicks then yeah it will begin to make a diff.
My experience with the PSS9, you either have +1, +5 or +9. PSS10 are probably going to be similar. You want to leave the rear settings firmer since there is a lot of weight over the wheels. Maybe try +8 R / +5 F.
You want it firm enough in front so you are not "porpoising" on freeway dips at 85, and firm enough on the rear so you don't feel washy in a freeway onramp sweeper doing 80.
-But you don't want it too firm where street bumps cause anxiety. Sorry for the generality but that is what I was shooting for when I set up my 996.
Keep in mind, tighening up the setting also tightens up the rebound since bump/rebound adjustment are tied together- Too tight of rebound and you start losing grip in the rear due to not allowing enough weight transfer onto the wheels when whipping into a corner (go cart effect).
That's why I eventually went with KW's since one click does make a diff, and you can really fine tune for smooth street ride without getting washy- Or tune for hard driving without losing a kidney. Example, leaving the bump setting towards the firm side and softening up the rebound setting makes for a sporty & smooth street DD, tightening up rebound +2 clicks F / +1 click R gets it ready for bombarding the twisties. The progressive springs don't hurt either

What's up man, I enjoyed the session we drove last week at BH. Going on the 4th and 5th?
Thanks for the info on settings, I am going to give a Mid setting a try probably 4/7. What is the best way to get access to the adjustment *****. Do I need ramps or a lift?

For the front, lay on your back and reach through the rear of each wheel until you feel the bottom of the ****. Turn all the way to 1 to start (counterclockwise) to get your bearings, then do 3 clicks clockwise to get to 4. For the rears, the **** is inside the car. Remove the rectangular carpet piece in between the shock towers and both adjustment ***** will be exposed. Same adjustment there, start at one and go 6 clicks clockwise. Hope this helps, enjoy!
