why hasn't my car sold
No prob. It's kind of like buying a really unique architectural modern looking home. You love it to death, but when it's time to sell it can be tough since only 10% of buyers out there are even interested in that type of house. In your case, you just have a smaller audience for your color.

I think the real buyers today (cash buyer or buyer with financing) looks at year, miles, price and moves on to the next car. There is more cars then qualified buyers, its like going to the used car factory for them, if they look long enough they will find the car and price they want.
Check with a local bank or credit union and see what loan value for your car is. A lot of people will have get a loan and now days they don't want to have to put any money down. That will give you a good idea of what you can sell it for.
Please dont overestimate the value of these cars. 28 is on the high side. the last 4 comps sold on manheim for under/around 24k each and ALL were uner 40k miles. being that manheim is wholesale 28 is generous.
As for when it came time to pick up my first 911; I bought mine in black.
Drop your price and your car will sell.
Yea, this color will change on sun conditions and under florescent lighting almost looks purplish. Its pretty cool.
Also forgot to mention that it has the agency power exhaust on it. I just added to the ad on this site that if someone from here uses the buy it now that I will include the agency power, the stock, and a set of muffler bypass pipes/tips. Else the car will come with the stock and will sell the exhaust/pipes here.
I don't think that when you sell a car you should try to compete with manheim prices. Unless you are a wholesaler. Kinda like shopping for a tv with the prices that circuit city gets from sony. Have to remember that margins are being made on top of that, way more than $1000, if you consider the car has to transported, prep'd, etc.
I buy/sell a lot of cars, and this is by far the longest its ever taken me to sell one. Crazy because its the nicest i've had.

Having just purchased one. I would say miles and color. When I was 10, I wanted a red 911. As I got older... it was either silver or black. I think there's a good many folks who like the stock look. As you can see from the posts, everyone like to make the car their own with personal modifications.
Reefdiver, I've seen your car on ebay when I was researching prices on 911's. Any luck yet?
I've been thinking of selling my Seal Grey/Black 02 C4S Tiptronic with 91k miles. It's in excellent condition, except for lots of rock chips on the bumper and hood. I don't want to paint that, as some buyers might get suspicious of a paintjob. So I figured that can be shown as is, and then can be painted with the deal, or deducted from the selling price.
How much do you guys think I could sell mine for? What's a good price to get some bites, yet not too low to give it away.

because in our market (N. VA) these are going for low $20k at best with that high of mileage. Try $23k if you want to be competitive. I've seen 00 and 01s go for under $18k with about 85k on them. GL with the sale.
Im trying to sell mine, yes already because of reasons for business. I have salvage title because of theft recovery. But has 45k miles on it and I put mine for $22k and people still want lower. So it is tough. But good luck with the sale of yours.
Given the global economic backdrop, I would hold onto it for now. No sense in holding a fire-sale unless you have to. Dollar for dollar, it would be difficult to find something that could bring as much daily joy. Also consider contacting your local PCA Chapter, they may have a classified section in their member newsletter, and often host Springtime meets where many like-minded members will be out to showcase and look at other members' cars.
