The turbo engine is totally different than the normally aspirated engine, different block, heads, crank, rods, pistons, etc. Basically nothing in common. This is one of the reasons that people say the turbo is not subject to the common failure problems of the M97 series engine.

the data cannot be found on a single sheet... the turbo engine is an evolution of 40+ years of racing... though the carrera engine also has those 40 years experience, it doesnt have the same race focused design. Eg: turbo/gt3 has a a dry sump vs integrated sump, turbo/gt3 is a gt1 block design vs newer modern design for production ease, nikasi vs locasil internal coating.... the 2 engine are like the marines vs army.... totally different missions.

I suggest picking up the 911 story... good book on the evolution of the 911's.

Talk to Deputydog, he probably has the most hp around on a street 3.6 with his SC. I have the VF SC with normal boost, 5-6lb., headers, low flow exhaust, Plenum, few other bits and pieces. At Evo I had a dyno of 409whp with my intercooler plugged and before the plenum. I still think that was inflated but the car is very fast. I hit the rev limiter the other day funning with a highly modified WRXsti. I had blown him away at 165 and I saw him hit his nitrous in the rear view. I dropped it into 5th at 150+ and pulled away but hit the rev limiter at 170+ and shifted to 6th and amazingly had some more umph. He finally shut down and gave me the thumbs up on a good duel. Don't try this in you home. It was an abandoned Interstate and good weather. Funny thing was when he hit the nitrous it blew out his front right CF fender and it was flapping in the breeze. I just got a GTR and I still don't know if it is as fast as my Porsche, only 700 mi. Will

the thing is with the SC kits... its def conservative tuning. The original 997S made to much power (3.8L) and they backed off on the power. These guys (SC tuners) know that the cars are gonna be on the track... so, its all about the driving and reliability of the machine.

RUF... has a SC (25K) kit.... that produce lesser power (on paper) than the other SC... and they do an engine tear down (lowered compression).... but to them reliability is everything.
