996 NB wheel questions.
I have a 2001 C4 NB. It came with 19 inch Rial Daytona wheels that look like they are actually for the wide body cars. On the rear I currently have 275/30/19 tires and they need to be replaced. My dilemma is this: Should I just get new tires and leave the same rims on or should I get the correct offset wheels for my car? I would like to run a wider tire on my rear wheels. As wide as possible. I have heard people putting 305 and 295 without problems if they have the correct wheel. The 275 I have on now are already sticking out just a bit and if I keep the same wheels then it seems that 275 is all the wider I can go. Next dilemma is this: My porsche mechanic in San Luis Obispo says I can keep the same wheels and get them to tuck in a bit more with some more aggressive camber and maybe even roll the fenders since there was obvisouly an issue of tire shredding as evidenced by the back right outside tire wall looking like its been slightly shredded. Here are my questions:
1. Does anyone have a set of properly offset wheels for a narrow body C4 996 they are trying to sell cheap?
2. How wide can I go on the front and rear tires? I currently have 275 on rear and 235 on front?
3. Would it be better to go 18inch wheels instead of 19inch? My biggest concern is width of tires. I just like the way the wide ones look. I dont want to make it look good and handle badly so obviously I want to optimize it.
4. What are some good performance tires to use on this model car? (2001 C4 996 NB)

Everybody will suggest to go back to 18's and run 225 in front and 295 in the back.
I have 19" 997 carrera S wheels (forks) in satin black. 235 and 305... love the look. and handles really well.

would the 997 S wheels have the same offset as the 996 turbo wheels/rial daytonas that i have? are you suggesting i just go with adjusting the camber and rolling the fenders and putting 305s on the wheels i already have and it should work fine? did you have to do any adjustments with camber and fenders to make it work? did you have any tire shredding/rubbing problems? thanks for the reply.

I think the offsets for the turbo wheels you have are all wrong. You should either go with the regular offsets for 18" 50 front and 65 back or play with the 19" 997 carrera that I have: 57 front and 67 backs. 235 and 305 with no rubbing and no need for spacers.

To the op, go as wide as you can out back!
Tires are nitto invos... 305/30 backs and 235/35 fronts. Next time, I will go for 245 fronts... no mods needed but my car is on standard suspension... so I don't know if you have your car super dropped, you may need the fenders rolled.

Don't the 305/30's have a diameter that's too "big"? Does that create any problems? I know the speedo's are off on these cars anyway (too slow)! How do you like the Nitto's too?
I had 35 on the back when I got the car... The speedo is doing great.... as I can see when driving next to a civic with a big *** digital reader that I can see a mile away!!
