As I understand it, it is a relativly new product that Euro-Dyne found over in Europe, and it is the same material as BMW is using on some of their interiors.

It is fairly thick, somewhat strechy, and has a tough top coating that is UV resistant.

It will never look like real, resin epoxy coated CF, but it is a low cost alternative and compliments the real stuff pretty well. Several people at a car show yesterday said that they actually perfer the look over the factory CF.

Brando this is a great find, gave you some rep points!

Is this the BMW site you found it on? I see Jo mentioned.

Here are links to this product with more pics and some more description.

Here is a great tutorial on wrapping corners.

Needless to say... my order going in today. Between this and painting some parts body color, my tired 99' is gonna look fresh....

From the investigation I have read.....Shooting with over counter krylon clear wrecks it.

Have not heard about urethane clear or a water based poly urethane being attempted.

I would venture to say....a water based product spread thin and allowed to dry possible could be used.

I would also like to see it coated with epoxy. That might work.

I might have to do this, just last week I painted my center console to match my exterior color (infact, I'm the guy that responded to your last thread about removing the trim pieces). Check it out (not trying to hijack your thread, just sharing ideas). How do you think the same trim pieces you did would look along my painted console? Would it be too much?
I don't think so - in fact what you're suggesting is exactly what I plan on doing - the painted console (that's really a terrific look, but I've already told you that), just as you have, then CF wrapping on some of the accent pieces. You'll probably get there before I will, but I think it will look great... My only concern is that there's a gloss to the finished project. The pictures look like there will be, and I think there has to be if you really want to replicate CF pieces. I was planning on testing some blanks to see how a clear finish would look - but if someone gets there before I do, please let us know.

Thanks,
Rudy

Well Silk55 posted a link to a DIY on REAL CF, I think I might go ahead & try that. I'll test it on something I can throw away first, & if it comes out fine, I'll do interior bits. Otherwise, I'll go with the wrap that Brando posted, which looks quite awesome as well. Check out the link Silk 55 posted (http://www.synapsemotorsport.com/Library/CFII.pdf). By the way Rudy, if you need any help or tips with painting your center console, let me know.

Hey Raph,

Believe me, you're on the list when I get to it... Did you not drive the car for the month you had the console out (I read your DIY over on Rennlist)? I should be getting my car back from the body shop (putting on turbo-look front and rear bumpers and side rockers... it's been out for going on 8 weeks now...) and I'm not real excited about the prospect of keeping it parked while I paint the console... Hopefully you can still drive it, but let me know...

Thanks,
Rudy

zdr2k; from what I have read, this cloth is covered with some sort of sealant. Has the feel of leather I think, not smooth like true CF resin coat.
