Aircon bulbs to LEDs

Has anyone changed their aircon display from orange bulbs to to white LEDs?
Any tips or problems would be good to know.

Thanks TB

I've been thinking about it but I found out that the LED's need to be soldered in and that was it for me. With my luck, I'd mess something up and then be out 1k for a new aircon head.

Did you have any probs with the polarity of the leds? Do you know if the aircon screen has an orange filter?, I love the colour of your car

any one have any pics of the install, getting ready to relocate mine and have seen these kits, along with the instrument panel kits, on ebay. Seems simple enough...right?

I bought my kits from PorscheLEDs.com and they supply good instructions with pics. The instrument panel lights are straight forward to change as they are twist in replacements, haven't changed the aircon ones yet but require soldering

I have found this on eBay as well and from PorscheLEDs.com and plan on changing them soon.
I would like to see some pictures of what they look like in a real car though.

Aircon leds are a real pain in the butt to change. Best to swap them one at a time and check the new one is working before replacing the next. They are only 3mm square and really need careful soldering as they will start melt after a couple of seconds. The orange filter needs to be replaced with a good plastic white one or the colour is not so good. Hope these pics upload.

That looks so much better. Anyone else have pics? Is there any place to send the aircon unit out to have this done?

I think porscheleds offer to do it but any guy into electronics could do it, it's a case of resoldering 22!! tiny LEDs. I had to do my own as I am in UK

I only melted 2 of mine but the company did send 25 so I had spares
That's why it took me about 4 hours to do.
