996 Turbo or... 997 C2S?

Sold my Boxster Thursday... ready for a 911. Which way would you go? Would like to spend less than 70 to make room for some customization. I always have liked the 40th anniversary 911, also. Some pretty good prices on the 40th out there. Not many for sale. Last... was the X51 power kit available on the 40th ann.?

Thanks guys from a newbie who will be lurking around to learn. Gonna buy this car soon. Having Porsche withdrawals already.

Turbo if you have the funds. X51 was standard on the 40th.

depends on what you want to do.... need to be a little more specific in what you want out of a car.... on the other hand the only real choice is the turbo.

Throw this ??? out in the 997 forum and lets see how many of them are really lying.

The 997 forum will almost all say 997. The reasons will be because 996's are:

An aberration
Cheap inside
Have Boxster headlights
Etc....

They won't say anything about performance because they can't. Why do you buy a 911? For performance.

Gonna do just that!

No track, maybe AX or TSD rally. I loved my Boxster but when it came down to straight line *** hauling it was lacking all through the band xcpt 3rd gear over 4500rpm. I want to leave heel-nippers in the dust

I know I will be the only one here.... but I would go to the 997. Updated look, updated interior and getting the 997 S means you are getting the 3.8. Not a slow car!
If you are heavy into customization, then go for the turbo. Tuners have it down to a science.

Based on this, I would definitely say Turbo.
I'd probably opt for a 997S b/c of the updated interior.
Or, save your pennies for a 997TT!! (they can be had in the 80k's all day long)
