Could you guys tell me the difference between a regular 996 from a C4S?
I just bought a C4S last weekend and did not really consider the C2. There were a number of reasons why:
1. The C4S has the turbo widebody. You can do all of the mods you want on a C2, but trying to match the look of a wide **** of the turbo is going to be pretty expensive. I think the 2002-2005 C4S is the best looking 911 (except the 959) ever made because of the body, rear reflector, and headlights.
2. PSM is standard and AWD adds to the safety factor. My wife knows that 911s can be widow makers. She wanted me to buy the safest car I could buy. I've had snap oversteer before. I've had snap oversteer that sent me into a tree at 50 mph and totaled the car. I walked away that time, but I was lucky. One week after we got married I was run over on my motorcycle. I did not walk away that time and I still don't walk without pain two years later. So safety was a major factor.
3. Full leather is standard in the C4S and there's something to be said for this. I am still amazed when looking at the car just how much leather "full leather" really means. That's definitely a nice option.
4. Brakes delivered directly from the hand of God.
Excellence magazine always says buy the best, newest Porsche that you can afford. I think there is a lot of wisdom in this statement and that's why I bought a C4S. It's basically the best, newest Porsche that fit within my budget, but even then I kind of stretched it a bit.
