What seat to buy?

I am 6'3" and 210 lbs. and have a 2000 carrera with a sunroof. I find the stock seats absolutely uncomfortable, probably the worst I've ever driven in. So I am looking to get some replacement seats that will serve track/autocross and be streetable. I went to HMS motorsport and sat in their array of seats and have figured out that my only options are a recaro hans spg xl, or a recaro profi xl. Any other seat my shoulders come up too high to get the shoulder straps through safely with a 6 point harness. Is there anyone that is about my height using a recaro euro gt3 seat? I want to know if they fit in it fine especially with a helmet on. My head is against the ceiling with a helmet on in the stock seats, not comfortable or safe. I have read a euro gt3 seat can drop you about an 1 inch which would free up my head room problem. So does anyone have any experience with a recaro profi xl or euro gt3 seat that can help?

If you drive the car on a regular basis you may not like the after market seats with high bolsters for ingress and egress. I have a race car with wonderful race seat with tremendous lateral support, but getting in and out is a major pain. I can't imagine using a race seat for a driver. I find the stock seat in my 996 to be pretty decent for track days as well as for everyday comfort, and seem to accommodate virtually all sizes.

I would look at the Recaro line of seats. They even offer different sizes to accomodate individuals with maximum comfort.

I have broad shoulders and the stock seats don't hold me well. My back aches after awhile and I noticed my legs fall alseep after 30 minutes of driving. I like the sport seats but I can't run a harness with them. Also, I need a seat that will lower me in the car because head room is scarce with a helmet on.

I think you've asked a very interesting question. I'm in a similar situation whereby I'm interested in finding a comfortable everyday seat which also allows me to use the harness on the track.

We have the 996 GT3 seats which work really well for a track car or an everyday driver.

I would try not to wait as we are seeing a steady markup in prices.

Please send me an email or shoot me a pm if you have any other questions.

That is a seat I'm considering right now, but a couple of questions. Do these seats lower you in the car? Will I fit in the seats with a 36" waist? I looked at recaros but I need a XL because the height of the shoulder strap holes are higher in the XL versus the standard size. Do these seats come in standard, XL, or a one size fits all? Thanks.

Yes the seats do lower you in the car. I do not have exact measurements, but I do know they will lower you in the car.

I am 6 foot 5 and by no means are my shoulders under the holes for the harness, but there is enough clearance for proper fitment.

There is a gentlemen that works here about your size I can see if he will take a seat in them and let you know how he likes the fitment.
