Introductions

Hello 6speeders,
My name is Pierce, I've been constantly lurking around here for some time so I thought I'd introduce myself and share some pics. I'm 17 and recently bought my first car a 1999 black 996 Carrera . I bought the car off ebay in mid-April for $15,000. The car was in Florida (I'm in Chicago) so two weeks later I flew down with my family to pick the car, and after a week down there I drove it back with my Dad.

The condition of the car wasn't exactly as described the tires were supposed to be new but the rears were totally bald. There were some undisclosed dents, the windshield is scratched to hell, squeeky drivers side window (when rolling it up/down), banged up coolant line, sagginging rear shocks, banged up exhaust tips, bad motor mounts. and the throwout bearing loudly whines whenever slipping the clutch with anything but the minimum amount of power to have it not stall. Theres probably something else wrong with it I can't think of.

Basically the PPI was **** and trying to get it justified with ebay's buyer protection.

So far I bought a set of turbo rims (which surprisingly fit) and have a fresh set of Michlen PS2s on them. In Florida we had a K&N cold air intake put on. I have a new clutch and new motor mounts waiting to go on next week.

Because the rear shocks will need to be replaced anyway I'm gonna get bilstien m30 shocks, eibach springs and gt3 sway bars.

The Drivers seat left bolster is really worn with a small hole so the eventually I would like to replace that. Does anyone know of a place that recovers 996 seats.

The previous owner advertised the car with a cassette player, but the cassette had it replaced with a cd player. I was planning on just using one of the 1/8 inch jack to cassette adaptors to use with my ipod, now I have to figure something else out. Is there an easy way to wire in an auxilary out?

THanks for reading heres some pics,
Pierce

wow, congrats your first car is a 911...I could only dream of that back when I was 17. I have just done the clutch and engine mounts on my car, you are doing it right. Keep in mind you might as well do the spark plugs, serpentine belt, rear main seal, intermediate shaft seal and fuel filter all in one shot. Save yourself something on labor.

Nope, most definately not for sale. I forgot to post mileage when I bought it had 112,000 miles and it just ticked over 116,000 yesterday and so far no rms or ims problems for replacement, still original. So I figure if it hasn't needed a new one yet why mess with success, I have gotten a good one.

When I was 17 I was lucky to get to drive my parents station wagon. My first car was a Fiat 131, and second one was a roached out Mustang. You're way ahead of the game, kid!
