if it doesn't fit well, it usually means there is something that needs to be trimmed or cut on the inside. it takes a time to fit a bumper properly. you gotta put it on, check the fit, take it off, shave/trim some more... yeah, it's a repetative process... tell your bodyshop to take his time.. i don't believe labor is too expensive in singapore

I won't mind even if they charged me more labour and do a good job. Problem is, they try a couple of times, and then if it still doesn't fit well, they push the blame on the mold, and say that's the best they could do.

Yeah, I'll ask them to be more careful abt using force or any sort of violence on the bumper. I just needed to know what the limitations of the bumper are so that I know whether to believe my installer when they are giving excuses.

Oh, back to pic 4 again. How did you trim the side air ducts? It looks pretty intact. Unless you pulled the whole piece out, and then trim off the edges, re-fix it on, so that it does not protrude out that much at the sides. Ie, reduce the depth of the whole side air duct?

Thanks Edwin! Will keep you guys posted. I am sure once the issues are resolved, it will be worth my efforts!

I feel for you. Every time we do one of these bumpers, we spend a LOT of time making it perfect (or as close as we can). Although it may seem pretty easy to just bolt on and go, it takes a lot of prep work to make sure it fits perfect.

What the shop should've done is do a "mock up". Take the unpainted bumper, and fit everything...ducts, bumper, drill the holes for the screws and mount it on the car like it's done. Then take everything off and then paint it.

To trim the duct, yes you will have to take the bumper off, see where the ducts are hitting, take off the ducts, trim, put it ducts back on...put bumper back on and do that over and over again until everything fits right. I wouldn't just start trimming..make sure you know what and where you want to trim

Sorry I can't be much more of help

Edwin

Just following up...did you ever get this fixed? I'm curious as to what the issue was. Thanks

Hi Edwin!

The fitment of the front bumper was just a part of my sob story. Truth is, the installer made a mess of a number of other parts of my car, for eg the rear wing, the top grill on the front bumper and the front wheel housings. So, I was actually waiting for various replacement parts to arrive before re-doing the installation. Should be going to my new installer within the next 1 or 2 weeks. Will keep you guys posted on the makeover process!

Couple of suggestions.

1. Your side marker lights seem small for bumper side marker opening, do you have a stock one around for comparison.
2. Install just the bumper and not the ducts to find out if there is interference between bumper and body. I would get it to fit properly first.

just my 2 cents
