I think that some of the earlier cars had this problem and there was a dealer bulletin to get a software update to correct it.

it is the new gas nozzels. The ones like these.
Don't let out enough air. They seal around the gas opening.
Someone needs to make a little ring with holes in it that you could put over you opening first. Then use these crappy vapor catching nozzels. If you use the old style you will have less problems.
Old style.

I got my car about a month ago and had this same problem, but mine kept clicking, around 8-10 times during the fill up. It wasn't clicking at just the 3/4 mark either!

Today I was at Costco filling up gas and I turned the key on until the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and started filling up, each time it would click I would check the dash gauge to see where I was with fuel, to make sure I didn't over fill.

... so long story short the guy working there comes up to me and says:

"Stupid question but why do Porsche owners around here fill up gas like this?"

Seems like what I'm doing is common practice around here and I'm not the only one...

I have an 03 and it would never register full. Last time I took it to the dealer they changed the fuel sensor in the tank. They filled up the tank and it registered full. It's never registered full after that. I don't have the time to take it back and just live with the 3/4 full guage!

No wonder! I noticed the same problem just yesterday. I thought I had a gas leak or something.

Thanks for the info.

Tried it upside down and worked for me, too! I guess empty tank or not, doesn't matter. Gotta go upside down.
