Has anyone converted 996 C4S's to 2WD

Guys,

A friend (DATAX) brought up a good point when I was looking for a CHIP. He suggested maybe turning the C4S in to a 2WD conversion. Has anyone done this before w/ the C4S drivetrain. I know some 996TT folks do this, so I was wondering, what kind of weight savings are there?

I love the widebody of these cars, so I'm thinking of just starting to make my 996 C4S a more lightweight car w/ some well planned power add's down the road. Thoughts??? Anyone done this on the C4S platform before?

Thanks.

IIRC, the turbo guys just disconnect the front drive shaft, so there isn't a huge weight saving. I also recall them doing this for dyno days that don't take 4WD cars.

Search Renntech as well, or ask Loren over there. He's got all the good answers.

On my turbo it saved about 72 LBS and got ride of the understeer. I love the car in RWD.

I don't think you can do it on a 997, the AWD is different.
