STEERING, feel loose!????

Hi everyone, not sure how to describe the problem but I'll try my best. My steering wheel feel very loose. Even after I installed a new H&R coil-over. The steering keep slightly going to the left and the right at high speed. I'm new to the P-car thing so I'm not sure if they are like that from factory. I do not have any vibration problem. Lets put this way imagine that when I hold the wheel at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock I can feel that my steering going to 9:50 and 2:15. Back and forward at high speed like 75 +. Hope that explained right . Anyway, I was wonder if anyone have this same issue. Thanks much for your time. My is 996 Carrera C2 with 26K miles
FYI. GT3 sway bar will be next, hopes problem will be solve after installed new upgrade sway bar front and rear.

hope you corner balanced (done by setting ride height) and realigned after changing to coilovers...sounds like you have some serious bump steer or an alignment issue

Do you have a wing in the back and still the base/stock non-aero front bumper?
You may need more downforce in the front.
My car was very floaty at 80+ mph with gt2 style wing on back and non-aero front, and this is with the (heavy front end) C4.

No I didn't get a chance to get it corner balanced nor alignment. I will do that this weekend. I hope that is the issue.

Actually my car come with an factory GT3 complete kit MKII with front and rear and side skirt. I thought about downforce too so I did order an GT3 cup front spoiler. Will see how it turn out after alignment. Thanks for your help.

As already posted here, most likely an alignment issue... Hopefully that resolves it...

Cool

Corner balance is not really necessary unless you are going to track it. Nice to do, but not critical.

Setting the height on all four corners with a slight rake is all that is necessary.

Something doesn't sound right. I'd check all bushings and alignment.

i have a 99 c4 that does the same at higher speeds, it feels floaty. i posted a thread about this and got a reply that the stock bumper causes this lift?

not sure if an alignment would fix this.

My 04' 996 is doing the same thing. I have the turbo front bumper and the Strosek spoiler on the rear. I think it could be the rack is loose or worn out. It actually gets more stable after 80 but very floaty between 50-70 mph. Any more news on this?

floaty and left and right are two different things. If you hold the steering wheel straight and firm and the car behaves like you are moving the steering wheel left and right, then, you need a new steering rack and or the inner/outer tie rods. Floaty is ind of "bouncy" at high speeds. My turbo front bumper fixed that on my C2 carrera.

my 02 996 feels "floaty" as well up in the 90mph+ and I was told its normal for cars with no additional spoilers. I did check alignment and balance and all was within spec.
