First P-Car

Please allow me to introduce myself and my car in this forum. My name is Jun and I just bought my first Porsche. Happens to be a '99 996 C2 Cab. As there are no Porsche dealers in where I live, I had to ask my friend to buy it for me and had it shipped over. Bought the car the 1st week of September from the PO and it arrived Guam during the 1st week of October. Most may think this is foolish, but I bought it without even doing some research on this particular model, not even a PPI and just relied on a carfax report. Just learned about the issues regarding RMS & IMS while lurking here (and other forums) after I purchased my car, which I have to admit made me nervous. The thread showing those cars without issues, as well as posts commenting that the IMS issue only affects a small percentage of all the 996s produced was a bit reassuring though. I just have to keep my fingers crossed that my car won't be in that 10%-20% of those with IMS issues. Done some posts but never had the chance to introduce myself nor taken some pics until recently.

The car was originally purchased by the PO around June or July of 1998, got some records, doesn't show any engine swaps, and was at less than 37k miles when I bought it. It shows to have a new top as the back plastic window is larger than what I've seen and it was confirmed to be a replacement by my local indy. The car looks great, close to perfect paint, came with a McIntosh 4-channel amp, and litronics. Local independent shop confirmed the car to be in great shape, including the engine.

Done some simple mods, namely, lamin-x on the litronics, headunit change, installed a sub amp, and light tint on the side windows. Currently in the works is a custom fiberglass sub enclosure with a couple of shallow 6.5 woofers to be placed on the passenger side footwell. Currently on order and/or in transit are: an empty bin to replace the cassette bin; a double-din for another headunit change including the transfer of the A/C controls to the bottom of the console; Bilstein PSS9; PSE; Evo CAI; Black OZ Ultraleggeras with Hankook Ventus Evo12s; aluminum pedals; seat bolster protection. Will be ordering either a Kenwood or Pioneer double-din with bluetooth & ipod connection, Morel speakers.

Still shopping around for a body kit. Any recommendations welcome.

Here are pics of the car.

I also was looking to purchase the same cabriolet, color combo you bought for my first 911. You have good taste! I was determined to put an aerokit on mine right away. From my research on this forum, I can recommend gt3tek and hyperformance. The Kenwood double din idea is good as well. Best of luck to you, and congrats. My first 911 is on it's way.

Thanks. I was actually looking into the gt3tek. In my opinion, their kit enhances the look of the car without going wildly overboard at more than half the cost of the OEM aerokit.

Aerokit

In my opinion your car looks perfect without a body kit. I havent seen a cabriolet 996 with an Aero-Kit though.

Very nice looking car. Congrats!

Thanks! 19" Black Ultraleggeras should be arriving anytime this week. Will post more pics after they get installed.
