Don't get too confident - if you miss a shift, launch wrong or blink he will beat you in his (twin turbo, 6 speed auto, all wheel drive) automatic Taurus with 365hp and 350 foot lbs - those Porsche 6 speeds are tough to shift and clutch well enough to match the (professional driver) magazine tester's times, whereas with an automatic is easy to achieve the same numbers:
Your car (2003 Carrera Coupe - Cab will be slower due to weight):
0 - 60 mph [secs] 4.8
0 - 100 mph [secs] 12.2
1/4 mile [secs at mph] 13.4 at 105.1
His car (2010 SHO):
0 - 60 mph [secs]5.2
0 - 100 mph [secs]12.8
1/4 mile [secs at mph]13.7 at 103.0

Reminds me of an old stereotype joke that seems to fit here:
What's the difference between a Porsche and a porcupine?
On a porcupine, the ****** are on the outside.
I'm a Porsche owner too - what I think is odd is another supposed Porsche owner feeling the need to bash a Taurus. I happen to think a lot of forum dwellers forget that the majority of the world can't afford exotic cars and aren't really concerned with canyon carving. That doesn't mean they suck, does it?
SHO is fun!
My 89 Taurus SHO was a monster in its day. There wasn't a sport sedan or many other cars that could run with it during the time I owned it. My 92 wasn't quite as fast. However new body style mono white with white wheels and black leather! I would love to have that car today. Yamaha engine that was awesome. My 8 valve GTI wasn't fast but sure was fun to drive! A taurus owner may not win on a track but as a daily driver that is affordable, theyre pretty fun.
You Guys are Funny!!!! Actually Taruas SHO is not a bad bang for the buck. Its a Twin-turbo V6 motor in that SHO. That car will make 400 plus when the aftermarket starts touching it. So watch out if you are rocking any porsches under a turbo or GT3 models!!!!!!! Because that SHO will touch you on the straights/highway. Now turning is another story.
