Advice on sport springs for my 02 996 C2

I'm looking to install some sport lowering springs for my 2002 996 C2. I want it a bit stiffer (but not cup car stiff). I like the fact that it lowers the car about an inch (which will should give me a bit more neg camber). Can you share some advice on vendors, quality, price, & cautions... Thx!

i'm guessing you'll get a lot of responses telling you one of the following

1. use the search function, its been discussed a lot before
2. dont do springs, do it properly and go with coilovers, springs will sag over time
3. go with springs, they are fine and are a lot less money
4. go with H & R springs

personally i searched and read a lot and came to the decision that pss9 coilovers were the right choice, i like the fact that i can adjust the ride height if i'm not happy with it whereas with springs it is what it is and being that labor is probably $1000 i only want to do it once

Cool

My advise.......been there, done that.

H&R springs are your best bet. Great ride and drop.

I would replace shocks at the same time with Bilstein Sports so that they work together. If stocks are ok now, they will get worn out very quickly with the lowered springs.

Coilovers are the best option but most people seldom adjust them once they are installed and don't use them to their full potential.

I've heard that if doing shocks at the same time, cost of all parts, plus the labor of the springs and shocks install is close to parts and labor of coilovers installed.
but that is just what i heard on the internet.

I have the H&R springs with stock shocks and the rear camber can barely be brought into spec. I will be replacing them with pss9's or some other coilover this winter. The stance is much better looking lowered.

i decided to go with the X74 package of springs/shocks & sway bar for my 02 996 street car & love it. Stance is perfect, not to low and car rides as it should have come from factory. Not to stiff.

Thanks for alll the advice

I appreciate all the advice, it's sounds like springs and shocks combined does it right and coil overs are probably my best bet.

on another note, does Borla make exhaust for my 02 996 C2? I didn't see it listed on their website, only a 996 GT3 exhaust (maybe that would fit). They are by far the best sounding exhaust for porsche I've heard to date. Please reply if you know. Thx!

just installed some H&r's a month ago, left the stock shocks on. LOVE THEM!! Some people said I may experience bouncing at high speeds but I haven't had any problems... I recommend them!!
