996 did receive damage on the way home.
Yesterday I brought the car in for the required state inspection. When the shop guy put it up on the rack, I got underneath to see how everything looked.
Well, if any of you remember my first post...
...I hit a retread from a semi on the drive back home. And it looks like I broke a few things.
The front bumper sustained the brunt of the damage. The underpinings at the bottom are still there but the bumper plastic that surrounds them has been sheared off. Only a single screw is holding the bottom of the bumper on. Furthermore, the undertray located in front of the engine was cracked and is hanging free just to the front of the drvier's side rear tire. Lastly, the brake cooling fin attached to the passenger side front lower control arm is floating freely.
I will be contacting the insurance company on Monday. I my be able to start the mod process sooner than anticipated, but this is not the way I originally wanted to proceed. I'll probably be replacing the bumper with an OEM GT3 (Mk-I) bumper and look to get the rest of the parts from other locations. Depending on what the insurance company says.
