Purchase of '99 Cab Tip
Purchase of '99 Cab Tip
My buddy is at the finish line with a '99 Cab 996, Tip, Factory Aero Kit, Springs, and Champion 19'' wheels. He's gonna change the wheels ASAP.
The car, exterior and interior wise is a 9. Totally clean, and no paint. It has approx. 38 K miles.
It's a FL car, bought at the Collection, with only 2 owners.
Sales Price: $38,900
Any thoughts on this price?
Tommorow he'll get the diagnostics back, which will hopefully give the car a "clean bill of health."

If everything comes clear, then I would say its a great deal. At that price, the being out of warranty should not be too much of an issue.
I have a 99' and the only things to go wrong in the last two years out of warranty were the following:
1) Replaced Ignition/Key Switch -- $165 part/labor
2) Replaced Cracked Coolant Reservior -- $750 part/labor
3) Replaced Contact Switch for ebrake/top control -- $15 part
4) Rear Tires
5) Mod's -- $$$ (personal preference)
6) Check Engine Light just came on this week though, so who knows...
Good Luck!!

EDIT -- Also forgot -- replaced the MAF -- think it was around $700

Sounds like a good deal as long as it checks out. I was advised to stay away from 99 because it was the first year and there were problems. That being said, the car looks great.
I have a March 1998 built 99 C2 and absolutley no problems. No oil burning or leak either. Get the car checked out and if it passes....buy it and enjoy it.
45,000 miles and still ticking.

Look like a good buy if the car checks out by a good shop those wheels need to stay they are super lite and sick as hell and with these cars we need the weight reduction

Wow $700 bucks for a MAF. I thought they were not that expensive. I guess I'll skip the reusable air filter in the future so I don't foul it.
And back on topic...
I usually recommend buying the newest one you can afford, but at that price and based upon the picture if the car checks out then it's a great deal. He should remember to keep about 10% of the cost of the car in the bank for repairs(It's a general rule of thumb) just in case.
Cheers,
Corey
