Unhappy Help with CGT Key Head

I got the CGT key head for Christmas. Unfortunately, I crushed the little diode thingy when I changed out the guts. Now the car won't start.

The dealer says I need to bring the car and all keys to the dealership to get them reprogrammed. To get the car there, it's got to be flatbedded - since it won't start.

Does the dealership really need to keys and the car? Is there any easier fix?

Please help.

use another key to start the car. your car should have come with 2 master keys.

Oh man...I've had two days of technical/xmas nightmares.*
Sorry to hear it, I guess you wouldn't be posting if you had another key. Just a bummer!

*Best Buy sucks.

Actually the car should have come with 3 keys. You should have the 2 big keys and 1 Valet Style key(Small Head).

If that's the only key you had, then I would 1st have the car towed to the dealer and 2 order another key(as they take time to get). What would have happened if your key broke or was lost and you needed to wait 3 weeks for one.

Good luck,
Corey

Rick, sorry to hear about that. Are you sure you only had one key for that car (you said the dealer told you to bring ALL keys)? Otherwise you could of course take the extra diode out of a spare key....

Thanks for the help guys. I only got one key when I got the car (I bought it used). I guess the good news is that I now have two key heads - the original and the new CGT head. I'll have it flatbedded to the dealer on Monday.

Normally this would be horrible...but after 3-4 inches of ice and snow on Wednesday followed by temps in the teens, I won't be driving. Must say the my (the wife's) Cayenne S is a wonderful way to get around in ice and snow. No problems at all. Rear wheel drive vehicles are still not getting out of the hood.

For Christmas the wife gave me some very cool mats for the C2 Cab. They are black LLoyds with Porsche in red block letters and Carrera in silver script below.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas from snowy Memphis.

The number is 980 637 244 01. At least that's what's on the box mine came in.
