Engine Compartment dress up options?

Beside a supercharger and a cold-air kit what else is out there to dressup the engine that's visible when I have my engine cover open.

Pics would be useful...

Thanks,
Corey...

I have heard many people state the GruppeM carbon box is a pile of crap and it has caused many problems. I LOVE the way it looks, but for the price and the possibility of mechanical issues, I was unwilling to try. But there are many that do custom carbon fider work now, why not have a stock airbox covered in carbon fiber? i am considering this.

That's a great idea, I wonder what it would cost and who we can get to do it.

how much time do you spend looking at the engine bay anyhow? better spend the money elsewhere IMO (unless you are into car shows or something)

Eric at Bumper Plugs.com....Try there. Or look up some info on carbon fiber, it is not as hard as it looks, you can get the resin and carbon fiber cloth fairly cheap.

msindi,

I plan on doing many more mods to my 996. I figure I'll spend about 1k max on the engine compartment in 05' for dressup and about 5-6k in other mods. Well within my 7-8k per year mod budget my wife has set for me, not including maint, tires and stuff like that. The worst thing is when you look at a really cool car and then they open up the hood and it's all greasy, dusty and ugly, kinda like a woman who only looks good with her clothes on because she wears a girtle.

Cheers,
Corey

i dont think it's hard to doa na airbox in cf..

easy trick to save money and keep reliability and warranty, is to have a guy lay carbon fiber on top of teh airbox..

that would be perfect...

Now you're all starting to sound like ricers. But an Honda and sell the Porsche will ya. How about some sidepipes on the car too? And maybe some lights underneath the car. Coooooooooool!

Well this is a GruppeM airbox in Carbon Fiber....doesn't look all that ricer to me...In fact, the see through F car engine cover with all those red heads and CF bits is awesome, not that ricer to me, and have you seen any pics of a Mclaren F1 engine? Awesome. I agree, an engine compartment that is as hot as an exterior is a complete car, not ricer at all....Oh and it's BOXSTER red interior not BOXER....
