New IMS Bearing Break-in period?

I could give LN Eng a call tomorrow, but I just wanted to throw this question out there.

Probably a stupid question, but I just had the IMS retrofit completed today and was wondering if there is a break-in period for that bearing.

Thanks in advance.

Don

Don. I cannot answer your question but since I am considering the ims retrofit, how much did you pay for it including labor? Did you do a new clutch and rms at the same time?

Thanks.

Yes, I did the clutch, RMS and IMS retro and walked out at $2,400 including tax.

Damn, it looks like you got a good deal.

At least you'll be sleeping a little easier now and dare I say revving her into the red zone more?

$2500 a good deal ouch... painful unless you really have to do the clutch anyways.

I can't believe Porsche is still not admitting any engineering problem on this

It's $2400, not $2500 hence a good deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but he did the IMS retrofit which is a bit more involved than just doing the IMS seal.

Can you provide an itemized breakdown of the $2,400?

No question about the clutch I went down to the shop and looked at the whole deal torn apart on my lunch break.

Yes, absolutely I/my shop bought the IMS retro from LNE. It is the new IMS bearing and flange and the tool.

I know one shop in Torrance that's running specials for ims retrofit for $1975.
Callas Rennsport. But I also got a quote from McKenna Porsche for $1085 labor only, and you gotta buy the kit from LNE, and they'll install it.

I too just completed the IMS Retro fit and I am glad I did. I was at the shop when they removed the original IMS and there was no problem - but I am glad I did it because you never know what will happen. I also replaced the RMS and a few other small items - but now I am worry free and will drive this car with peace of mind and have a lot of fun!
