No brake lights! Help!

Hey folks, I noticed tonight that the brake lights on my '99 996 are not working. All other indicator lights, blinkers, hazards, etc are working fine.

But no brake lights. Not even the 3rd brake light or the one attached to the spoiler that's supposed to come on when it's raised. The only thing I checked tonight was the fuse (B7 according to my fuse diagram) and the fuse was intact. Didn't break out the volt meter yet, though. I've got tomorrow off so I'm going to do some investigating in the morning.

Does anyone have any pointers for me getting this repaired?

thanks!

Check your brake pedal position switch.

So I verified that there was power going through the fuse, and I pulled out a light bulb just to make sure that it wasn't a simple fix.

Ended up taking it to the dealer yesterday, and indeed it's the brake petal position switch. The tech said it's an uncommon failure but it does happen (he said they replace about 10 per year if he had to guess). Part should be in on Monday. $158 installed.

I just did one of those last week! It is quite an uncommon issue though
