PA Turnpike Yesterday?
PA Turnpike Yesterday?
Funny little story here...
A work buddy of mine (Jim) finally cracked under my pressure and bought a '99 Orient Red Cabriolet from his cousin out in Arizona a few weeks ago
(it's really nice... stock, matching consoles in orient red, some other subtleties, some maple burr here and there). He hasn't had many hours with it yet, so he decided to take it this weekend on an annual golf outing at Carroll Valley in Fairfield, PA.
So... as he's leaving western PA he decides to gas up. A group of three kids in a pimped-out neon blue Subaru with a large spoiler roll by and slow down, rev it up, and dissappear. Jim finishes up about and about ten minutes later pulls out with a bag full of McD's, all content with the nice situation he's in. Oh, btw subuaru nowhere in sight (i know you all know where this is going
)
Jim's pulling out onto the highway and literally 3 seconds later the subaru comes out from behind and pulls up next to him. They start revving, giving the signal to drag, revvvvving it up, taking off... slowing down... taking off... this went on for about five minutes. He swore he was in a movie, basically just smiling at them with a mouthful of fries everytime they slowed down to challenge him...
The challengers finally dissappear.
Jim decompresses at his cruising speed going 85 eastbound on the PA Turnipike, and at about 4pm a black 996 flies by him doing a buck ten and slows way down to fall back inline with him.
As Jim described it: "you could tell he was psyched to be out driving his 911....looks the car over, and gives me a huge thumbs up.......with a big smile. now THAT made my day."
Whoever you are, Mr. Black 996, Thank you. You just solidified everything I've been telling Jim for the past 3 months
