It's funny how they put those on a tire that probably already has excellent snow handling qualities (wide gaps between blocks). I don't understand how some poly urethane is going to suddenly give you traction. If you were stuck in the snow it would probably help just because it sticks out beyond the tire tread, but for regularly driving? Huh? What happens when you get on some pavement that doesn't have snow on it. It'll probably shake your car apart and your fillings loose with all the bumping along that'll happen.
its snowing like crazy over here in NYC and I'm going to be driving my c2 today.. definitely will be interesting.
Will see the car handle the snow. if it doesn't work I might be buying one of those "chains". You are right though.. It will probably be a bumpy ride with those "chains" when its not snowing.

I just drove mine with the P-240 snow sports, no problem!
Of course mine is AWD!
Good Luck, watch out for the other *******s on the road, I worry about them not my state of the f'in art ride!

hey you have snow tires and awd!! lol..
I was driving with all seasons and rwd! anyways i guess i won't be heading up to the ski slopes in the c2.
funny thing.. every winter the same thing happens, I start contemplating if this is the right car for me since its my only car. i'm thinking of trading it for a evo8 / sti or an S4. Sometimes just more practical with AWD and a sedan setting.

oh by the way. on the road that had around 0-2 inches the c2 was slippery but it drove ok.
When i got back to almost to the lot, there was a part where it was not paved very well. probably almost a foot deep... obviously that was when i got stuck.
funny thing, had to dig my path out cause my car was acting like a plow. nevertheless. got back home safe.

what do you drive now?
im seriously contemplating for a more practical car that is 1) fun 2) can sit my friends and cargo 3) not as flashy 4) good for winter skiing.
although it is hard to part a 911!!!

mmmh. Those huge gaps (gap = no more traction than usual tire) are screaming "RUBBISH!" in my ears!
It will give you an extra edge, of course, but I'd only use it to get out of the driveway and reach a plowed area.
I'd keep 'em in the trunk in case I get stuck, but I wouldn't put them on and go driving for miles.
Better off putting a tow strap in the trunnk IMO.

Based on your four requirements, I'd go for an S4. My best friend has one of the newer ones with the V8, and it's a lot of fun. The only thing I really didn't like was how quiet it was. It's in desparate need of a good exhaust!
FYI:
I drove my C2 with snow tires and PSM in the snow this weekend. We eventually had about 2 feet of snow near me(though for some reason the news only said about 18")
It actually the C2 felt better than my wife AWD audi wagon with all-seasons. I never got stuck and the car turned well and never slid(Unlike the Audi). As long as your not speeding a C2 with snow tires is amazing in the snow and when the wheels can't turn the car the PSM turns the car the way the steering wheel is pointed. The only problem is ground clearance with the snow any deeper and you need a truck.
Cheers,
Corey...

you are right. my c2 was acting like a plow when I was trying to get back to the lot (it was 1-2 ft of snow). completely stuck so i had to dig the snow out of the way. lol.
i don't really want to invest in snow tires. as i have no place to put it (manhattan apartment).
My car is like used only in the weekends and used less than 50% in the winter. so thats like around 30 weekends or 60 days out of a year.... Can't wait till summer!!
s4 sounds reasonable. i might go with the older twin turbo ones.. its more in tuned with my budget, its old, depreciation-proof (the major reason I like my c2) and i don't mind trashing it.

As someone who used to live in manhattan(before child) here's my suggestion; Get snow tires and a storage facility, it would be much cheaper than parking a second car in manhattan. Or do as most manhattan people do, rent a car on the weekend(during the winter) and not drive a car with summer tires when it's below 40'.
FYI: I used to keep my porsches when I lived in the city out east(in LongIsland) and take the LIRR to get them when I needed them. Much easier and I was able to keep tires and stuff out there. If I needed a car in a hurry, I'd just rent.
Cheers,
Corey
