Casey do these turbo's require a cool down period or the use of a turbo timer? Compared to the Audi/ VW FSI engines that circulate coolant to the turbo.

The turbo cool down is just like a factory porsche car... Just stay out of boost for the last 3-5 minutes of driving.

We just mailed 2 more 996 systems and are about to install 2 more 997 3.8 kits in house next week!

Also completed our first 987 2.7L car

Correct me if I'm wrong but most of the cool down isn't as critical as in the past due to the fact of using advanced synthetic motor oil which has less of a chance to coke the turbos as with previous motor oils.

If it were a real concern, you would see them standard on factory Porsche turbo cars. Still a good over and beyond preventative measure I suppose.

I see from TCP's web site that the turbo kit is 10k, but does that include installation ? I'm in Northern California so I would have Rennspeed install the kit.

I wasn't aware there was a turbo kit for the 996. I would like to see the videos as well. I am just south west from you in Leesburg, VA.

Before you put this turbo on, had you done anything to the exhaust? And are you happy with the sound now?

Do you check other components such as compression to see if the motor is healthy before turbo installation? I'd be worried with a high mileage motor.

What about a stock tiptronic transmission like in my 2001 996. Would I have to beef up the tranny or any internals first before I try this turbo kit? Would are your recommendations?
