Alarm Chirp (or lack thereof)

02 C4S 6s

When remotely locking or unlocking the car all I get is one or two light flashes. I asked the service advisor at the local Dealership if it was possible to include a horn chirp... he says not.... Has anyone successfully achieved any type of audio signal when locking or unlocking the car?

You can push down the silver micro switch contact in the center console and that will make the horn chip once. It now thinks the center console is open.
It is very easy to do. Just take a small screwdriver and push the little silver contact out of the way. You will see it down in the latch. It you don't like it then you can always move it back.
The one down side is the center console is no longer armed. Not a good thing if you have a Cab.

Thumbs up

That is exactly what I did.

Now, I get the light flash and a single horn beep.

hmm interesting, guess that's pretty cool but now you won't be able to tell if it chirps due to a door not being completely closed etc. right?

You are right about that... but I can't begin to count the number of times I have walked away thinking the car was locked... and it wasn't.... I rarely find the doors are not closed all the way... I like my odds better this way....

Ok can you post some pics of this being done. What silver micro switch? I have a 2001 Mk1 will this work on mine also? Sounds like a nice useful mod to do. Thanks

Try just leave the console open. If you get the beep when you lock the doors then this procedure will work. If you don't get the beep then it won't.
