Help. Strange exhaust noise from my 996 with PSE

I know this is an old thread, however I have a question
I have the PSE, and it is not working, I can't muffle the noise
I've noticed i have 2 bad mufflers - both a shot
1 - Where the PSE works (inside the muffler)?
2 - If I get new mufflers, do they need to be with PSE?
3 - What can be done?

strange exaust noise
i have the 996 with pse. i had a rattle in the exhaust that turned out to be a loose baffler but only rattles when starting from cold when the the engine worms up it seems to go so i live with it. and it only rattles when on idle.
