Talking Hey guys I need a little drag strip feedback from 6speed members

For those of you who have taken your 996 to the strip, This is a first outing for me, at an open track night, Stock class cars no roll cage req, I know the 996 is not a great drag car, but I am just going for fun, "To blow off a little steam" so to speak. I have removed the spare tire and my heavy *** subwoofer box from the back. Does anyone have any suggestions of other things I should do to prepare? i.e. Tire pressure etc? I am running a new set of SO3's on the car that have already been broken in. Like I say, I'm not expecting much from my 996, but it should be fun. I've got a few friends going too, Its at Moroso Motorsporks park tommrow night 6-11pm if anyone else wants to join us.

Hey Jeru- I went last August and I am going again this August. I ran the tires with my everyday pressure. My launches were most successful when I didnt try to "dump" the clutch. When I get staged, I bring the revs up to about 2500-3000 and feather the clutch out. Dont ride it, but just make a nice even exchange. I had sub 2 second 60ft times most every run. On a couple of runs I came out too hot and got wheel hop. Never once did I smell clutch and I made 9 runs that day. Good luck!
Oh and remember, when making your 1-2 shift and 2-3rd shift, start shifting a couple hundred rpm's before your shift point. The reason for this is, the tach cant keep up with the actual engine revs so it is a bit behind the actual rpm. By shifting this way, you'll eliminate hitting the limiter, especially from 1-2nd. Have fun and report your times!
