New steering wheel cover

Well, I just got sick of looking at the old leather on my steering wheel. The targa now has 90k miles, and the wheel was quite worn out. I contacted Dallas Custom Steering Wheel about a new wheel, and he had one sent out just the way I wanted, perforated leather on the sides, solid leather on top and bottom, and silver stitching. He also added an extra 1/8" padding to make the wheel thicker. I was thinking about a center stripe at 12o'clock, but decided to forgo this additional expense. Install was simple (there's a good Youtube video on 986 wheel removal), and I just need to Fedex my old wheel back to DCSW to refund the core charge.

Overall, very happy with the fit and finish, and the new leather makes a nice difference - refreshed and not as worn. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Very nice!!!

I'm in a similar situation...
OK now I've got to ask you how long did it take and how much?

Thanks!

Sid.

The day after I called, Don at DCSW had pics of my new wheel emailed over to me to proof. Once I gave the OK, it took about 3-4 business days to receive it via FedEx. Basically, really really fast.

There was a core deposit of $250 (which will be refunded when I return my old wheel), and the cost for the way I did it was $340+ shipping.

Nah, just the standard wheel. I'm not sure if I like the 1/8" padding, my hands aren't that big. Don at DCSW compared it to an M3's steering wheel when he was describing it to me, but I don't know that frame of reference - others on here might. If I had to do it over, I might have gone with the 1/16" padding. I don't know, maybe it'll grow on me, it's only been a day since the install. I do like the look, however!

That looks awesome. I just emailed them for a quote for the same as yours except with a stripe.
How's the leather?

Leather's alright, there is also a "premium" leather upgrade for $40 more, I guess I don't know what I might be missing. The standard stuff feels good enough for me.

I had originally gotten a quote for the airbag too, with silver stitching. I forget exactly how much, but I think it was around $250 or so. This would've pushed the cost over $600 and most certainly have attracted the attention and thus the ire of the wife unit, so I decided to forego this extravagance.
