What could have caused this

Thinking to buy a 2000 C4 with 100k on it, engine replaced with a used one, i am getting a PPI. The rear seat is discolored with a dark blue shade, and i see the same in the front passenger side, i immediately thought water damage, but spoke to the mechanic and so far car checks out. The owner did not say what had discolored it, nor did i as. but when i saw the front lower dash have a similar shade.... What could had caused this, could it had been the oils in the leather reacting to heat? IDEAS?

Pulled it up, nothing, what is baffling me is that little spot on the front lower dash, passenger side. I mean, so the guy spilled some wine while enjoying some twisties... Got it, what the heck happened in the front?

OK i am thinking about buying the car, so.... When you guys say water, do you mean some maybe from a cracked window or like the car or portion being underwater? If so the mechanic would have found other signs.... Right?

It looks like water damage from a recovery vehicle.

Have a through check of the Title run for salvage and spend for PPI. I this market I would look for another example and take your heart out of the equation.

looks like there was a baby seat..... and when they (infants) discover gravity, they purposely drop messy drinks just to f^ck with you.... hence the effed up seats.

To bad.... cause the millenium ed car has such a nice interior...

IS there any color discoloration in the middle of the seat?...(hard to tell from the pic)

Seen this on a leather couch and this IS GOING to sound crazy....!

BUT.....

The person sitting in THAT seat had on a NEW pair of pants, ones that have NOT been washed.......Somehow the pant material got wet(via rain or sweat) and bled onto the seats!
I am guessing jeans.....because of the color.Jean color mixed with that color interior will create a purple color.
Seriously I have seen this on a cream colored leather couch....
AND the edge where you wiggle your legs around will take the greatest amount of discoloration!

IF it was grape juice spilled by a baby in a baby seat I think the carpet would be stained too.....?
BUT I see why you said it though...because of the shape of the stain!

GL,

Stacy

MOTHER "take your heart out of the equation", I cant, i love this car... HEHE, The issue is not the rear, you are all right, too many things could have spilled on the seat....The front is more of concern.. because i cant figure how its there (Very small barely visible)The mechanic cannot find any sines of water damage, i am running the VIN, autocheck, is clear.
REDRIDGE, i found a local shop that will re-spray the interior, garanties perfect match and will look new.

If PPI and Autocheck is clear i will get it...

Redridge,
so its known, i have been reading these forums for some time, when i saw the interior of your Pcar, well, lets just say that's how i had imagined mine.... Then this millennium comes up, so it needs some work, oh well.... GT3 Seats are on the list .... BTW, spoke to the guy that dose interiors (big shop, lots of custom work) some times discoloration happens due to heat....
