Anyone had their engine replaced under warranty?

PCNA is deciding whether to fix or replace my engine. So if it's replaced, how long will it take? Warranty? and lastly were you worried about resale value of the car once the engine is replaced? I plan on buying another car when the warranty is up, but maybe now is the time to by if I can get a buyback from the dealer.....

Two days, depending on if the engine is located and close by. If it's coming from Germany, four days shipping, one day to install, one day to ensure it all works well...tops a week and a half. They are super fast when it comes to this. I've had a few of them...!

Porsche dealer replaced my engine on my 99 C4. Took them a week because had to come from Germany. Dont let them fix it complain enough and they will give you a new engine wich comes complete with ac compressor, and altenator.

Looks like a new engine is on it's way....so is there a break in period? Or is it broken in from the factory?

They are "remanufactured engines" but not rebuilt engines. From what I understand, when an engine comes off the line and is not to spec, it is sent to be remanufactured back to spec. I believe these parts have never been "inservice". Think about it, many engine have been replaced for "casting" issues like out of spec crankshaft area or slipped sleeves, how would you reman that engine the blocks are no good.

Good Luck,
Corey...

P.S. I have not had an engine replaced by porsche in any of my cars yet, but have had a transmission in my 996 for a burl on a synchro at 4000 miles that would not wear in.

Less than BMW has done for the M3, I hear 1 out of 3 for them.

In my '02 996 I had my engine replaced. Twice. Both times under warranty. Ah, and also the transmission (once).

Mine is replaced too. Now with the break in. I don't know, I am following the instructions with the new car instructions as in the manual. If this is not right someone please chime in.

I was told by the service manager to break it in like you are going to drive it. If you plan on driving it hard, then break it in driving hard. Not sure what I will do when I get it back....It'll be in a few days.

I don't know, I was told to follow the directions in the manual, and do an oil change at about 400 miles or so.
The break in question is a hotly debated item.
I never worried about the other cars I have owned.
