Question Brand New to Porsche....996

Hello Everyone...

I just finished purchasing my first Porsche 2000 996 57K Odo. The dealer I bought it from is very reputable and has a great relationship with my family and previous purchases of exotics so I am confident with the overall purchase.

I wanted to introduce myself and ask the following:

Is there anything that I should look for right from the start as far as known issues to look out for and or history?
Some things that are going to be done right away short shift kit, lowering springs, install of turbo front and rear end.

Main use will be for recreational driving and some autox.

Thanks in advance.

welcome & nice car from the look of your avatar...got any pic's?
as far as issues, keep an eye on coolant tank leaks....these early car are notorious for it...there's also ignition switch problem if u ever have problem inserting or pulling out the key...if the car already have RMS or IMS replace, then u should be find..sorry to scare u right from the start but u ask for it..anyway enjoy the car, when it happens, it happens.

+1 Luckily, my PPI revealed none of the above issues. But, certainly issues that need to be monitored.

check for RMS. if it wans't repaired, it may bite you.
check for leaks (oil or coolant).
good mileage for a car from this vintage. not too little to be a garage queen, and def' not too much.

congrats.

Congrats on your purchase! Enjoy your auto-x'ing... Better post some pics of the Porsche having some fun.

I'm also contemplating an earlier 996 for some abuse.
