Interest in a simple non-MOST iPod connector?

How much interest would there be in a simple iPod connector for 996s with the Becker radio? I am considering putting together some adapters that would allow people to use the line out and charge on iPods including iPhones and iPod Touches.

Would people pay $60 for this?

There's already one available from Becker. I think it's about $65 - I don't recall exactly. I have one in my car now. Mine is a non-MOST radio - it's a 2002. I don't know if they have one for later cars that have the MOST system.

All other cables that are available are outdated and don't work with iPhones or iPod Touch 2nd Gens.

Would people be interested in an iPod cable that is compatible with iPhones?

Only other adapters for late model / MOST radios I know of are the Denison and the MoBridge, both cost around $500. OUCH!

I have a Dension Gateway 500 for my most system and I love it. Pretty easy to install if you have ever installed a car radio then this will be easier. I have a 16 gig flash drive plugged into it. Might have to upgrade to a 32 in the near future.

Curious, how much did you pay for your Denison?

I bought mine used from a fellow PCA memeber. Is was listed in the monthly PCA mag. I think I paid $180 for it used. No real moving parts to worry about. They key is to get the fiber cables. Those can be very exspensive to order and very hard to find.
Eric at bumperplugs.com will usually have a groupbuy around the holidays. That will be the best retail price and support you will find. I searched for almost 2 years before the one I bought fell into my lap.
I have only seen a few used ever come up for sale. Good luck.

I use mine with my iPhone 4 every day. They sell a little adapter that makes it work and allows it to charge the iPhone.

Hi Dennis. Thanks for the info. I'd like to make a cable that does not require an adapter. Can you tell me how much both of those cost?

TIA

I'd have to go and look. I think the adapter was something like $25, but I don't remember exactly.

Now, if you could make a cable that allowed me to control the iPod/iPhone through the head unit, I would definitely be interested in that!

Hmm, what if you just had next song/last song/pause control? Would that be something you'd be interested in? A full iPod menu of the existing Becker text screen would be quite unwieldy.
