Help, 03 Targa, ROW M030 front higher than rear
Help, 03 Targa, ROW M030 front higher than rear
Hi!
I was wondering if anyone has experience with Suncoasts ROW M030 setup. I had mine installed by my local Porsche mechanic but now the front of the fender sits about .5 inches higher than the rear. Ground to top fender is about 25.75 inches while the rear sits at about 25.25 inches above the ground. I confirmed with Suncoast that the springs are the correct ones, according to the green/white dots painted on them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I mounted on my coupe hr springs, front and el 'highest I have seen that the buffer and' too long. The Porsche dealer says that is fine, a suspension expert says that the shock must have 2, 3 cm stroke before touching the pad.
Did he corner balance, allign and set the ride height? I can tell you that M030 should be lower in the front, something is wrong. Have your local Porsche Mechanic show you the height and alignment specs out of the Porsche Service Manual and prove that he did it right.
I did have an idiot do that to my 993 once, when I asked him about it he told me he left the front high so I would not scrape the nose. THe idiot could have killed me as all the air going under the car had no where to go so at high speeds the thing was a disaster over 80mph.
Good luck.
ps. I had an 02 with M030 and mine was lower in the front as well.

How long has it been since the install?
Generally at first, the front will be higher in some cases but settle after some time.
I generally don't like waiting for this settling period and usually hit the tracks or the closest empty parking lot to do figure eights and slaloms.

It is in fact a 996 Targa... which is the same as the Carrera but with glass top.
I had it on for a few months now and ran one Autocross, still no settling, front is still higher.
Where can I find the official Porsche numbers? I talked to a dealer but they won't touch it since it isn't D.O.T. supposedly... grrr...

Definitely should've settled by now.
Only thing to check for is proper install to make sure the springs are seated correctly to the struts and to make sure the struts are indeed seated all the way down into the hub carrier.
This would also make a difference as your Targa is heavier than a normal C2. Do you have part numbers from the box or invoice somewhere to verify?

I have a targa and researched through Gert at Carnewal and Sunset Porsche. Both said the stock targa and cab share the same struts and spring rates. Hence both recommended the cab version since there is no RoW030 targa version.
Also, one can buy just the struts and springs from Carnewal for about $150 less if the sway bars are not needed. I already have a H&R rear sway, so I don't need the bars. Adding more front bar will just bring back the understeer the bigger bar helped get rid of.
