3.4 to a 3.6

Hey guys I'm new around here, i was just wondering if with an engine replacement could you use a newer 3.6 in a 99 car? And what would need to be done to make the change over possible
Thanks

Why would you want too? I think the 3.4 is a stronger engine, so I would stick with that one. I would also stay with the non-egas setup.

i've read somewhere (can't remember) that the rods/rod bolts are beefier on the 3.4s. porsche had to make some clearance for the 3.6s so the rods/bolts ended up being a little on the smaller side. not sure if this makes the 3.4 a stronger engine though.

the 3.4s revv better but the 3.6 have a bigger torque punch.

i was wondering if a 3.6 bottom end can be fitted to the 3.4 heads so you can retain the drive by cable (no e-gas)

some of the 3.4s have block porosity problems. was the problem solved by the time the 3.6s arrived?

what i want to do is to mate up a bored and stroked 3.8 bottom end to the heads. 3.4 to 3.6 isn't enough of a difference.

i wonder if this can/has been done.

Agreed, unless you have a blown 3.4 out of warranty and find a 3.6 cheap....But in that case it may cost more in time and effort than a simple 3.4 drop in.
